Foundations In Biomedical Science 2.

The focus of this course is to reinforce the middle school science curriculum as it relates to the biomedical sciences. Topics include basic scientific methods (observation, data collection and analysis, formulating and testing hypothesis, creating procedures, and basic laboratory skills), viruses and pathogens, genetics, food webs, anatomy, and applied forensics (crime scene analysis).

Standards

This course is aligned with New Mexico and Next Generation Science Standards.

1" Three ring binder.

College ruled loose leaf paper

Pocket folder

calculator (inexpensive)

Blue or Black pen

Pencil.

Evaluation Criteria

Quarter Grades

Scholars will be evaluated on the following criteria within each quarter:

Assessments (Tests, etc.) 30%

Projects: 40%

Practice: 15%

Quizzes/Quick questions: 15%

Semester Grades

Scholar's semester grades will be calculated as follows:

Q1/Q3 40%

Q2/Q4 40%

Semester Final 20%

Grading Scale is aligned with The ASK Academy grading scale.

A+  96-100%

A    90-95%

B    80-89%

C    70-79%

NC 69% and below.
